Historic sites in Nagakute City
1 Shonyuzuka
This is the mound built in the place where Tsuneoki (Shonyu) IKEDA on the Hideyoshi side is said to have been killed in the battle. The "Meiji monument" was built by descendants of Tsuneoki, and the stone pillars were built by Yaemon HITOMI and Magoshichiro AKABAYASHI, who were Owari retainers, when they visited the battlefield in the Edo era.
2 Shokurozuka
This is the place where Motosuke (commonly called "Shokuro"), the eldest son of Tsuneoki IKEDA, was killed in the battle.
3 Musashizuka
This is the place where Nagayoshi Musashinokami MORI on the Hideyoshi side, who was called Oni Musashi because of the bravery in the beginning of the Edo era, is said to have been killed. He is the second elder brother of Ranmaru MORI, who was killed in the battle along with Nobunaga ODA in the Honnoji Incident in 1582.
4 Mihatayama
Ieyasu TOKUGAWA advanced his troop to Iroganeyama and then to Mihatayama while observing the situation of the Hideyoshi side. Finally, he set up the battle flag of the golden fan (the flag raised at the headquarters) on the top of the mountain.
5 Iroganeyama
It is said that Ieyasu TOKUGAWA sat on a gigantic stone on the mountaintop when he held a war council in this mountain. The stone commonly called "Shogi-ishi" still remains at Iroganeyama. In addition, there are an observation terrace and a tea ceremony room on Iroganeyama. For details, click here.
6 Kubizuka
Unzan Osho (monk) of Ansho-ji Temple and the villagers burried the soldiers killed in the battle of Nagakute regardless of the Hideyoshi side or the TOKUGAWA side, and they built the mound to enshrine their souls.
7 Nagakute Joshi (Ruins of Nagakute Castle)
This is the site of residence of Tadakage KATO who supported NIWA, the lord of Iwasaki Castle, on the TOKUGAWA side. After the death of Tadakage in the battle against the Hideyoshi side at Iwasaki Castle, the castle became lordless and disused.
8 Kinoshita Kageyu zuka
After letting Hidetsugu MIYOSHI (nephew of Hideyoshi), the commander-in-chief, escape by giving a horse, Kageyu KINOSHITA was killed in this battlefield along with his brother Sukezaemon.
9 Hori Kyutaro Hidemasa Honjinchiato
Hidemasa HORI on the Hideyoshi side set up the camp in Hinokigane and defeated the TOKUGAWA troop. The stone monument at the former headquarters is now in Hinokigane Park.
10 Ansho-ji Temple
This is the temple of Unzan Osho who collected the heads of the soldiers killed in the battle, which were left on the battlefield, and built Kubizuka (mound for severed heads) for the repose of their souls.
11 Yoroikake no matsu (Armor-hanging pine tree)
It is said that military commanders on the Ieyasu side hung their armors on this pine tree after they won the battle.
12 Chinoike Park
It is said that there used to be a pond where military commanders on the Ieyasu side washed off the blood from their spears or swords after the battle. However, the pond no longer exists.

The guidance on historic sites is conducted with the cooperation of Nagakute City Local History Research Association. (Participation fee: 1,000 yen per group *Please pay in cash on site.)

How to apply for guidance on historic sites
If you would like a guided tour for historic sites, please apply using the "Inquiry Form" below at least 2 weeks prior to your desired date. If there are less than 2 weeks before the desired date, please contact us directly.
Caution
: To visitors who would like a guided tour on historic sites by Nagakute City Local History Research Association
- The participation fee is 1,000 yen per group. *Please pay in cash on site.
- Please note that we may not be able to meet your request depending on your application date.
- It takes about 2 - 2.5 hours. Any guided tour across a lunch break (noon - 1:00 p.m.) cannot be accepted.

- For safety reasons, the maximum capacity per guided tour is approx. 20 people. If you would like to apply a guided tour as a group of more than 20 people, please contact us using the "Inquiry Form."
- In response to the recent climate variation, we will take actions as described below. Your understanding and cooperation will be appreciated.
- If a forecast value of the Wet-Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) of Nagoya, which is announced on the day before the guided tour, exceeds 31, we will postpone or cancel the tour.
- In case of postponement or cancellation, the Nagakute City Local History Research Association will inform you of it in the afternoon of the previous day.
- If it is expected to be hot even when the WBGT of Nagoya is under 31, we may change the tour route, postpone or cancel the tour.
